HVAC Recovery

Even areas far removed from fire damage can carry an odor of smoke. For example, smoke, soot and contaminants can travel through air ducts, leaving residue throughout the ventilation system. Ductwork also is an ideal breeding ground for microbial contaminants when moisture enters.

Sick Building Syndrome
Additionally, pollutants like bacteria, mold, fungus, dust, volatile organic chemicals, insect allergens and pollen can accumulate in ventilation systems and cause illness. With little exchange of fresh air, these contaminants can circulate through buildings, resulting in a condition called “Sick Building Syndrome.” Sick Building Syndrome is a term sometimes used to describe situations in which building occupants experience severe health and/or discomfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a particular building, but where no specific illness or cause can be identified. The complaints may be localized in a particular room or zone, or may be spread throughout the building. Our subsidiaries have developed special deodorization and decontamination techniques to clear the air of odors and pollutants resulting from fire.
